2018 Unedited Shiraz in Gift Box
World's Greatest Shiraz Challenge XVI, Winestate Magazine. The nose projects aromas of blackberry fruit with vibrant layers of dark fruit flavour, well balanced by the oak with just a hint of citrus peel and tannins building across the palate. 98 pts.
Huon Hooke, therealreview.com. Very deep, dark, dense colour, almost glass-staining, star anise, sundry berries and chocolate, eucalyptus forest floor aromas, earthy, the wine is essency and deeply concentrated, superripe and plush. Sensitive use of oak. Inky wine. Thick and dense and gets away with it. 95/100 Top Rank.
Ned Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion 2021. Opaque, as expected. While the structural attributes are a bit obtuse, the fruit compensates across a lavish robe of saturated dark cherry and damson plum notes. Hints of Asian five spice and floral aromas lend to the salubrious equation. The oak is vanilla pod and bourbon spice. 92 pts.
Panel Chair: Nick Adams MW | Co-Chair: Tim Atkin MW, International Wine Challenge 2020. Gorgeous aroma, Chocolate, mocha and blackcurrant. Lovely clove spice, creamy vanilla with a lifted blossom finish. A keeper. 91 pts.
